Most opera lovers would love this book. Opera lovers love to hear the dish on the personalities and this book will satisfy that need. I picked this book for two reasons: 1. I love opera and 2. My sister bought the author's house in Wallkill NY. Sometimes its personal.

It was a very good book because I like mysteries.I also like how there were two different mysteries Nancy Drew had to solve at the same time.

Milk Fed

I decided to read this book after seeing it on bookstagram, and I'm so glad I decided to pick this up! This was an interesting read, it explores so many big and important topics and issues in such an interesting and engaging way. Through the idea of food 'Milk Fed' explores how the ideas put in our heads about body image at a young age effect how we live our lives as adults, it shows how something as simple seeming as eating and hugely HUNGER can play such a huge role in how we exist and experience things each day. It also explores the idea of what a "mother" is and what that figure looks like, and how she is perceived and is supposed to act and be to a child and an adult. Another big theme that comes out in this book is religion and its role in sexuality. It talks about how your upbringing can affect your view of your sexuality and force you to behave a certain way while also not changing who you are. Ultimately it shows the brutal reality of how religion and sexuality often clash and can lead to painful relationships with the people you care about and how messed up family dynamics can be. This book also explores the workplace and how as people we tend to "preform" a certain way with different groups of people, especially for people we see as higher up than ourselves, along with how this effects the way we see ourself. I read this book over the course of two days, it was a fast and addictive read that had me dying to know where the story was going to go. I loved the characters (and hated a few), especially that we could hear the inner thoughts and voice of the MC, it made the story so interesting. I loved this book and can't recommend it enough!

The Three Body Problem
by Cixin Liu

Three/fourths of the book are impossibly and intentionally convoluted and incomprehensible. Not enjoyable reading. The only remote sense of enjoyment and clarity that came from the satisfaction of pushing ahead and through to the last few chapters and to some kind of conclusion. I don’t understand how this is anyone’s top 5 sci-fi recommendation. The positive is that the science is very good and the ideas are very original. There are no tropes here. No handholds for the well-practiced and experienced reader. In that way, it was enjoyable in its newness. There’s also the lack of familiarity in regard to the voice and authorship from the Chinese POV. Historically educational and stretching in that way. Difficult reading, but not uninteresting.
